All You Need Is Here
Spiritual Respite for Clergy in Challenging Times
Clergy carry many spiritual and emotional burdens on behalf of the communities they serve. Even in the best of times, clergy of all faiths accompany people through change and crisis, new beginnings, sickness, and death. These days even the basic concept of mercy has been weaponized in the political sphere. We are in a dynamic and even chaotic time, with many people living in fear at the margins.
Clergy are called to embody the possibility of hope and love for everyone, no exceptions. But who is caring for those same clergy, providing the community and support they need to survive and thrive in these challenging times?
LeaderWise, a leader in providing spiritual and mental health support and training for clergy, is offering A Spiritual Respite for Clergy in recognition of the heavy load our clergy are carrying. The format is simple: We will open with a brief spiritually inclusive poem, story, reading or scripture, followed by a meditation (silent, guided, or musical). Those attending will be invited to share what is on their hearts or minds, evoked by the reading or meditation, or from their ministry and life. When each participant is finished sharing, they will indicate this by inviting the others to breathe with them. There will be no commenting or crosstalk, only sharing from the “I” as we hold space for one another. Once all who wish to have shared, we will close with a blessing.
The group will be led by trauma informed LeaderWise staff. Limit 12 individuals. Registration required. A separate group for LGBTQ-identified clergy will also be offered. Pre-register for the LGBTQ sessions here.*
