JOHN CHANG-YEE LEE, M.DIV., D.MIN
SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR, REFLECTIVE SUPERVISOR, CONSULTANT
The Reverend John Chang-Yee Lee is an ordained Presbyterian Church (USA) Minister of the Word and Sacrament. Having served as a musician, pastor, chaplain and seminary professor in a variety of settings for over 20 years, John has developed a deep appreciation for the sacred invitation of companionship with those engaged in discernment, expression, and compassion arising from their spiritual formation.
As a second-generation Chinese American, John is also a Buddhist and Daoist practitioner. He has been published in the 2021-2022 Routledge Buddhist-Christian Studies handbook. His research and practical application interests arise from these intersections and include spiritual formation and direction for BIPOC communities and individuals, non-dual cultivation practices across religions, and communal rituals, liturgy, and music.
John has lived in the Twin Cities with his family since 2008 after moving here from San Francisco. Though many question that decision, John truly enjoys the snowy winters, the change of seasons, and the great hiking trails found around the state. He also enjoys playing and listening to music, playing a variety of sports, and traveling.
John received his Master of Divinity from San Francisco Theological Seminary. United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities granted his Doctor of Ministry from his dissertation The Spiritual Formation of a Courage-To-Be: The Interreligious Wisdom of Tillich, Buddhism, And Jazz. He received his certification for Spiritual Direction through Christos Center.
